Iskcon clarifies on land issue

International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) has clarified that the lands in Mahadevapura have been acquired by it for the purpose of showcasing organic farming.

In a release, Iskcon has said that the lands were legitimately bought from the farmers after paying them the agreed prices. All necessary legal procedures have been followed and all farmers extended open support to the organic farming project and sold these lands.

The sale deeds have been executed by various farmers out of their own volition, it is very spurious to say now after close to 18 years of completing the sale and Iskcon is growing its crops on the said land that they were forced and cheated of their lands, the release added.

The release said, it should also be noted that no litigation or complaints have been filed against anyone against the land purchase. It is very unfair to hear that Iskcon has  deceived the farmers as  the latter has been compensated suitably.
